Mr. November cocktail

A booze-soaked holiday miracle. This cocktail is autumnal. It is fun. It is a bit sweet. It is a bit decadent. It is basically Thanksgiving poured into a glass, and it won’t make you tired like turkey, at least not until your third one.

*** INGREDIENTS ***
Chai-infused rye (can make ahead)
 1 tbsp chai tea (loose leaf)
 1 bottle rye whiskey (Dickel, Rittenhouse, etc.)
Cinnamon simple syrup (can make ahead)
 1 cinnamon stick
 1 cup sugar
 1 cup water
Cocktail
 1.50 oz Chai-infused rye whiskey
 1 oz apple cider
 ¾ oz cinnamon simple syrup
 ½ oz lemon juice
 1 pinch nutmeg (fresh grated)
*** DIRECTIONS ***
Infuse the rye

Empty 750ml rye whiskey into a large container. Mix 1T loose chai tea leaves into the whiskey. Wait several hours before straining out the tea and pouring whiskey back into bottle.

Make cinnamon simple syrup

Combine 1 cinnamon stick, 1C sugar and 1C water in a pot and warm on the stove until sugar has dissolved. Then refrigerate until cool.

Mix the drink

Combine in a cocktail shaker over ice:
» 1.5 oz. chai-infused rye whiskey
» 1 oz. apple cider
» 3/4 oz. cinnamon simple syrup
» 1/2 oz. lemon juice

Shake for 10-15 seconds

Pour into rocks glass over large ice cube.

Garnish with fresh grated nutmeg.
