→ During my vacation, I saw a Facebook post about a Gerda’s pop-up. A Gerda’s pop-up that I had missed.
Since the midtown German mainstay closed last summer, lots of people have mourned the loss of the restaurant’s homemade desserts and their popular Oktoberfest.
Apparently I wasn’t the only bummed diner, as more than 250 diners commented on the Facebook post, which mentioned another Gerda’s pop-up is planned for the spring. It sounds like a fun way to revisit a bit of Omaha culinary history; I’ll keep you posted as I learn more.
→ Czechfest is coming to Little Bohemia this spring. The new event, co-hosted by the Little Bohemia Infusion Beer Hall and the soon-to-open Fizzy’s Fountain & Liquors, will take place May 16. (Worth noting: both businesses are inside the former Bohemian Cafe, which closed in 2016.)
It will feature, like any good Czechfest, Czech food, polka music and a beer garden. The food lineup will include roast pork, dumplings and kraut dinners, grilled sausages and kolache.
Diners can also look forward to sipping Lil Boh Czech Pils from Infusion; shots of Becherovka, Slivovice, and Blackberry Brandy; and cocktails from Fizzy’s.
For more, check out this link. I’ll see you there.
