Editor’s note: Welcome to our new series. We can’t dine out right now, but we can order in. I’ll share my chronicles of getting to-go meals, curbside takeout or delivery from various Omaha restaurants a few times a week.
How to order
Call 402-342-1220, or message the restaurant on Facebook to place an order for takeout. The restaurant is offering curbside pickup outside its restaurant at 1611 Farnam St.
Block 16 is also delivering through Grubhub and UberEats.
Lunch, including the daily special, is available Monday-Saturday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dinner runs Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 5-9 p.m. View the menu at http://block16omaha.com/.
What we got
How long it took
When you place your order, staff will ask your for the make and color of your vehicle. Park in one of the two dedicated parking spots outside the restaurant. Staff saw our vehicle pulling up and within two minutes of arrival, we had our order.
Total time: About 20 minutes, from the time we placed our order, including drive time from our downtown condo.
Critic’s take
Block 16 is always going to be one of my first loves in the Omaha dining scene. That hasn’t changed. Though the delivery method of my Block 16 is going to change for now, the quality remained the same: the food arrived neatly packaged in paper takeout boxes. Their signature crispy fries, still hot, came with a small container of house fry sauce for each order.
The B16 Reuben could vie for the best in town. I particularly love the unusual but delicious layer of beets. And the pulled pork roll, one of Matthew’s go-tos, is as hearty and savory as ever, even eaten in your own kitchen.
I can’t wait to see what they deliver for their higher-end delivery specials at the dinner hour in the coming weeks.

I love Block 16.
Will need to try the take out.
Both of your choices look great.
Bob.
