Empty 750ml rye whiskey into a large container. Mix 1T loose chai tea leaves into the whiskey. Wait several hours before straining out the tea and pouring whiskey back into bottle.
Combine 1 cinnamon stick, 1C sugar and 1C water in a pot and warm on the stove until sugar has dissolved. Then refrigerate until cool.
Combine in a cocktail shaker over ice:
» 1.5 oz. chai-infused rye whiskey
» 1 oz. apple cider
» 3/4 oz. cinnamon simple syrup
» 1/2 oz. lemon juice
Shake for 10-15 seconds
Pour into rocks glass over large ice cube.
Garnish with fresh grated nutmeg.
