Modern Love adds brunch, North Omaha loses Skeet’s and Enzo’s

— Modern Love plans to add a regular brunch service to its menu, starting Sunday. The service will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the new menu is online now. Highlights: a full English-style breakfast, a portobello ranch steak salad and Nutella French toast, among many other tasty dishes. 

— Skeet’s, a North Omaha barbecue institution, has closed for good. A story on Noise Omaha said the restaurant, which has been around for 67 years, closed after the death of David Deal, who took over the business from Harold “Skeet” Whiteside in 1978. — Catering company Mjer Help, which has put on several pop-up events at Rockbrook Village, has a new name: Heirloom Fine Foods. It’s also opening a brick-and-mortar spot near 72nd and Dodge Streets in spring 2020. The business started at the Kitchen Council, the Omaha Chamber’s food startup incubator project. 

— Enzo’s, in Florence, has closed. The last day for Enzo Zurlo’s Italian spot was Nov. 9, according to a Facebook post. The restaurant plans to continue catering, and is working out details for guests with unused gift cards. 

— Pastries are now in Countryside Village at Camille’s Bakery, which also serves quiche, cookies, Mexican baked goods and several gluten-free baked items.
